Clifton Moor
There's something for everyone at this out-of-town shopping centre located just off of the York outer ring road. There are frequent bus services from York city centre.
At Clifton Moor you can find Northern Electric, Victoria Travel ,Tesco, Carpetworld, Homebase, Matalan, Netto, Argos, B & Q, Comet, Currys, Mothercare, Shoe City, Toys 'R' Us, Burger King and McDonalds amongst others. The shopping centre is also home to the Warner Brothers cinema complex and ten-pin bowling alley.
Coppergate is a modern shopping complex in the centre of York which is home to a number of high street stores. Body Shop, Dolcis, Clarks Shoes, Fenwicks, Boots, Evans, Thomas the Baker, Starbucks and Marks & Spencer to name a few.
Swinegate (once the pig market!) is now the place to find designer fashion boutiques, specialist art, designer living and home furnishing shops and a host of new restaurants and café bars.
Micklegate thought to be the finest Georgian Street in York, is a good place to find books, paintings, furniture, records and second-hand goods.
Newgate Market is open seven days a week and can be found in the heart of the City between York Minster and Parliament Street. The market is full of stalls selling everything from fruit and vegetables to clothing. There are also areas around here where street entertainers often perform.
Stonegate, York's ancient thoroughfare, has a rich variety of shops with Medieval and Georgian architecture including the world famous Mulberry Hall. Other well-known shops and outlets include Yves Rocher, Next, Lakeland and Starbucks.
The Shambles is probably the City's oldest and most famous street. Originally York's 'Butcher's Street', many of its shops and cafés are housed in the original timber framed buildings.
